Well, I am officially 18, and with that age comes multiple changes. I graduated from high school, got my first tattoo, and chose the official college that I will be attending in the fall.
Choosing what you want to do after High school is always one of the biggest decisions you will make. I decided to continue my education at the University of Wisconsin - River Falls, and am currently undecided in my major.
"Do you know where you are going to college?"
"What are you majoring in?"
"Why are you going to college when you don't even know what you want to do with your future?"
THAT'S EXACTLY WHY I AM GOING TO COLLEGE.
College is a place to figure out what you like and what you don't like. It's a place to receive help from advisers and to let them steer you in the right direction. It's a place where you can focus on yourself without the distractions. It's a chance to try out all sorts of different clubs and sports.
In High School, you had certain classes each year that you had to take whether you liked it or not. In college you can take classes that interest you, that you have a passion for. Your classes focus around your major, I am undecided, therefore I take classes that interest me. If I wanted to take an oceanography class, heck, I'm going to take an oceanography class. It could lead to a career in animal science. If I wanted to take a glass blowing class, I'll take a glass-blowing class. It could lead to a career in art!
All I'm saying is don't judge someone because they haven't had a dream career since they were four years old.
I am indecisive, I change my mind all the mind. I thought about being a photographer, pastry chef, teacher, guidance counselor, and you expect me to have an exact decision of what I choose to get a degree in within a few months of choosing a college to attend? No. Let me be undecided, let me make mistakes, let me find my passion, and give me time. I will figure it out eventually, and if I don't then I will be just fine.
I want to discover myself and not let myself be confined by the limits of a random major I felt pressured to choose. I just want to be successful. I want to be happy.
