College As Told By Spongebob

Ahhhhh, college. We all have a love-hate relationship with this place. So many great things happen each year; but at the same time, we sometimes hate our lives. This is my way of explaining college through my favorite childhood (and maybe adulthood) show- SpongeBob Squarepants:

At the start of each year, we are all so excited. We get to see our friends that we haven't seen in a few months, and we finally have something to do with our lives!

Walking into the first day of classes and seeing that you have class with your best friends or teammates:

When we all say "this is gonna be the year that I study real hard and get all A's"

Once we actually try to go to the library and study; but start to go mentally insane:

Handing in our first few lab reports, assignments, or exams to the professors just like this:

Sitting in class and having someone raise their hand and go "one time..." and continue on with a personal story that has nothing to do with the topic we're on

How everyone is once December rolls around and we all get to go on break finally

When everyone comes back in January and expects it not to be cold????

Second semester starts, and again we say "this is my semester. All A's"

2 weeks into the semester:

Getting grades back and just feeling like this:

But feeling like this once the weekend comes

And don't even get me started on when friends come to visit:

Trying to get to the packed gym and get in a workout, but just feeling like:

Actually getting a successful workout in and feeling like:

When class ends at 10:45, and the professor is still lecturing at 10:46

How we feel when we get a few good grades in a row

How we feel once we realize its senior year, and we're about to graduate

Overall, I swear college is great! Sometimes we despise it; but it's the best four years of our life.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
