College As Told By 'Gossip Girl'

"Gossip Girl here! Your number one source into the scandalous lives of Manhattan's elite."

OK, so our lives are not as extravagant, luxurious nor hella scandalous as Blair and Serena. Well, I hope no one is faking a death, running away or having relationship struggles like Blair and Chuck. But there are times in our daily lives where the characters of "Gossip Girl" felt the same way. College, relationships, people and life can get the best of us. Serena, Blair, Chuck, Nate, Dan and your other favorite characters of "Gossip Girl" relate to your everyday emotions.

1) Boring Winter Weeks

Spring semester consists of the cold, miserable winter winds. Nothing exciting seems to be happening and you seem to have some of the most boring classes at night. Winter is just a dark hole of boring darkness. Just wait until the weekend (or not) and get a little crazy, forget about all your problems, and do things young people do.

2) Talking To Your Crush In Class

Swoon. Those gorgeous blue eyes turned to you and handed you the attendance sheet. Not much may be happening in your love life, but that small conversation you guys just had was magical. Or maybe you are in a great relationship, couldn't be happier and are just completely in love. We all have moments when we feel like there is no one else in the world other than the two of you.

3) Obnoxiously Loud People

You could be trying to study in the library, sleeping in your dorm or relaxing just about anywhere. There is going to be someone who is just beyond too loud for you to handle. I honestly do not think it is acceptable to be screaming at that semi-funny video.

4) Dressing for Comfort

8 a.m.? Friday class? Had a long eventful weekend? No matter the reason there are plenty of times when you are just going to roll out of bed, put on shoes and head to class. It is a struggle we will all have and no one should be judged for the grunge look.

5) Homework

It all piles up at once. Five papers, two tests, surprise quiz in class. It's like our professors plan to have everything due at the same time. All the homework is just the beginning of your stress, and it is always there.

6) Leaving Class For The Last Time

Nothing feels better than walking out of the threshold of your least favorite class with your least favorite classmates for the last time.

7) Pushing Through The Semester

Never seems to get easier as the semester goes on. The weeks are long and your break is just too far away. But if Dan can handle taking care of Georgina's baby, you can finish the semester.

8) Recruitment

No matter which side of recruitment you are on, you meet some really great people. But it can be sad when they get a bid from someone else.

9) Motivation

We want a lot of things: money, nice body, food. Instead of complaining we sometimes just need to go out there and get it. Which is easier said than done but...

10) The Next Morning

Ever woken up kind of dazed by the night you just had? Someone told you something that happened, you have no idea why you would ever call your ex, or look at your snap-story and just do not remember any of that. #college

11) Finding Your Best Friend Soulmate

You will always have some high school friends. But there is something about the people you meet in your sorority/fraternity, class, or dorm hall. You can find your other half to raise hell with through your crazy college years and your true best friends forever.

12) Failing

Whether it was a test or a class, words won't be able to comprehend how pissed and stress it could possibly make someone.

13) When Your Parents Ask How Classes Are Going

It is just not OK.

14) Dealing With F**kboys/F**kgirls

Literally better off not dealing with any of that crap.

15) Professors

They always seem like they are out to get you. But then they extend the deadline or give extra credit or just try to show some act of kindness.

16) Greek Life

Joining a sorority or fraternity brings one of the best bonds in life. You find people who are first friends, then become more than friends. "First you become a part of it, then it becomes a part of you."

17) Hometown Friends

When you go home after a long time and hang out with old friends it can be weird. Sometimes things just change for the better.

18) College

Just remember, through all the mistakes and stress, college is the best time of your life. Live it up. Have all the fun you can before you become a real adult. You know you love it, xoxo.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

College without friends is like peanut butter without jelly.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
