1). “When in doubt, go to the library.”(Chamber of Secrets)

When Ron says you should go to the library, you should probably listen. There’s plenty of time to hang out with friends and cause trouble, but also a time to get work done and most times, it’s not going to get done unless you lock yourself in a library study room.

2). “Nothing like a nighttime stroll to give you ideas.” (Goblet of Fire)

Moody’s right. After a long night of studying, you have to reward yourself with a little break to get out of your room. A quick step outside for some fresh air or a trip to Charlies can help clear your mind and give you a refresher so you’re bound to complete your assignment in no time.

3). “We are only as strong as we are united, as weak as we are divided.” (Goblet of Fire)

Honestly, we’ve all been there when your core group of friends leave and you’re left by yourself wondering what to do. Or when two of your friends are fighting with each other and you just want them to make up so it’s a big happy group again and all is restored in the world. It’s in these moments that you realize the power of your friendship together.

4). “It matters not what someone is born, but what they grow to be.”(Goblet of Fire)

If this doesn’t sum up your college experience, I don’t know what will. You enter college as a wide eyed teenager and leave four years later with a lot more knowledge, experience and grey hair. College is a time to expand your horizons and learn from yourself and others around you.

5). “I solemnly swear I am up to no good.” (Prisoner of Azkaban)

We’ve probably all said this on a Friday or Saturday night, knowing we shouldn’t be doing what we are doing, but do it anyways. It’s a sign that whenever you admit this Harry Potter favorite, you’re bound to have a great adventure.

6). “One can never have enough socks.” (Sorcerer’s Stone)

Okay, like c’mon. You know this one is true. No matter how many pairs of socks you pack in your suitcase on move in day, you know that most of them are going to get eaten by the washers and driers by the end of first semester. So when your relatives ask what you want for Christmas, socks are always a good answer.

7). “Working hard is important, but there is something that matters even more, believing in yourself.” (Order of Phoenix)

When it comes down to that big test worth 30% of your grade, you have to spend a good amount of time preparing. But even more important than being prepared, is having the confidence in yourself that you have done your best up to this point, and believe that you can succeed.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
