12 Things To Expect For Your First Week Of College
Christina ReAnn Beckum

The first week of college can be a crazy time. Here's are 12 looks at exactly what you can expect as demonstrated by man's best pal.

1. It is your first day of class and this is the moment you have been waiting for, but you were not paying attention to that tour guide during orientation and you have absolutely no idea where your first class is. So, you just look around trying to play it cool so no one knows you are a stranded freshman.

2. You get to your first class and decided that maybe if you sit next to the older students nobody will realize how out of place you are, but it is pretty obvious.

3. You have joined a fraternity/sorority with the hope of meeting new people because how else are you going to meet people on this giant campus, which thankfully at least gives you something to talk about during class.

4. When you first see the dining hall it's the most beautiful thing you have laid eyes on, even though you will quickly hate it in a few short months.

5. You get back to your dorm only to realize that your roommates are already pre-gaming for a night out and you refuse to miss your first opportunity to go out in your college town.

6. You get ready to go out and make sure that you have on your best outfit because who knows, you might meet your new best friend or your future soul-mate tonight, anything is possible in college.

7. When you get to the bar, you quickly realize your soul mate is looking right at you (Not really but this is what we all wanted to happen).

8. You quickly learn the next day that class does not get put on hold because you are hungover but you say screw it and skip it anyways.

9. Instead you go to the pool with your friends while forgetting about all of your responsibilities and mainly focusing on how tan you can get during the last few weeks of summer.

10. When you get home you quickly realize you forgot about a huge test you have tomorrow, so you spend the next few hours wallowing in your self-pity.

11. You quickly convince yourself that you have never been more prepared for a test in your life and are about to make an A on this test (you don't).

12. You spend the next hour trying to figure out why you did so terribly on the test and tell yourself that next time it will be different, that you are going to quit skipping class and going out because of how important your grades are. Then that night comes when you realize that you are going to do this every week and it is going to be the best time of your life.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. You feel like you will have never-ending classwork to catch up on if you miss class, so you end up going sick and then it just takes longer to get better. Being sick in college is really tough and definitely not a fun experience. Here are the 15 stages that everyone ends up going through when they are sick at college.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
