With travel comes time and money. Two things NO college student has enough of in those long four years of school. This has lead to a huge decrease in the amount of young people traveling at this time, especially on the international level. From things like spring break to semesters abroad college students are becoming so involved in traveling and learning about the world; what are the perks of traveling in college?
We are curious. At our age, we want new experiences and to learn more about the world we are preparing to be apart of. The culture outside of our front door is the perfect cure for this craving. There are loads of agencies that create travel itineraries and plans for college students that are affordable, and enjoyable.
We are young, and for the most part in the best health we will be. Traveling is taxing on your body and mind. From flights to the amount of walking you will do, the older we get, the harder it gets to travel and do the exciting things college students look for. It will be pretty difficult to walk the Great Wall of China with a knee replacement or strolling down on a Hover-Round.
We love the rush of adrenaline. College is the ultimate time to feel free and excited for the world. Our age group is always looking for a rush of excitement and the feeling of being alive. From hiking and being one with nature, to spontaneous weekend trips, it is common for college students to be out and absorbing the unknown. Traveling abroad could give us an even greater experience, and now can be done easily by students.
We have less obligations. For now, most of us don't have many financial commitments, time restrictive jobs, or families we have to support. Taking time on college breaks and summer terms to travel will be well worth it, rather than waiting for your career, family plans, and bills to get in the way.
We are always stressed. Sometimes, no matter how nice home is, we need to get away. It is easy to feel overwhelmed at our young age, and traveling is a wonderful way to relieve stress. The planning stages could create stress as well, but there are so many resources to keep it simple and easy. Using websites like Travelocity or Expedia can help you book flights, find hotels and even rent a vehicle for your destination. The internet is full of helpful "how to" guides to guide you along the way... GO GO GO!!
Traveling has many benefits from meeting other cultures, experiencing new activities and most importantly learning about ourselves. Get out there, find yourself and discover something new to love.
Home will still be home when you get back.
