7 Reasons Why College Students Love Thanksgiving

As a college student, there is a long list of why I am and have been longing for Thanksgiving break. Whether it is to finally be able to reunite with my friends who went away to different schools, seeing my family, all the food that does not come from the dining hall, or just a break from school, Thanksgiving is much needed. Here are a few of those reasons.

1.) A break from school :

Whether you are home for only a few days, or a week, it's always nice to have some days to not have to stress about school and work.

2.) Reuniting with friends :

We all remember how hard it was saying bye to the friends that you were so used to seeing every day, and that was about to change. But now you get that perfect chance to reunite and reconnect with friends that went to schools hundreds of miles away! cherish your time with them, it will be months before you see some of them again.

3.) Family time

The people who raised you to be who you are today will all be surrounding you for the first time in months. Again, cherish it. every single moment. Whether it is seeing you grandmother, or playing with your baby cousins. It isn't every day you get to see them so make the most out of it.

4.) The HUGE home cooked meals :

Probably what I'm most excited about to be completely honest. It has been months since you've eaten a good meal, a meal that does not come from Dhall that is. Pig out, and ENJOY!!

5.) Celebrating the holiday :

It's the holiday season!! It is not every day that you are able to be surrounded by all the people you thankful for in life!

6.) The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade :

Sit down, relax, and watch the parade with your family in your pajamas! Just like you used to do as a kid!!

7.) The perks of being home :

Free laundry, good food, great people, your own bed, seeing your pets, sleeping in, etc.

Although I am thankful for each day that is given to me, I am especially thankful for Thanksgiving break! Enjoy your time home! I know I will.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
