8 Reasons Why College Students Are Like Toddlers

Just because you grow older doesn't mean you stop acting like a kid.

When we're young all we want to do is grow up, until we get older and realize that it's not as great as we thought it would be. It only makes sense, then, that when we get to college we want to go back to our easier days and act like kids again. When you look at it, there are actually quite a few ways that college students are just large versions of little kids.

1. Naps

As kids we hated naps, but now we've grown to love and depend on them, both to recharge and avoid responsibilities. We basically survive by taking a series of naps, since a regular sleep schedule doesn't exist.

2. Coloring

Whether it's an adult coloring book or cartoons, this childhood activity is still a fun way to pass time and reduce stress.

3. Disney movies

We used to like Disney movies for the vibrant colors and cute animals. Now we can relate to the message of the story, and the animals are still cute.

4. Roller coaster of emotions

Little kids can change emotions at the drop of a hat, and college kids are no different. With the amount of stress they're under and the transition from high school to adulthood it is no surprise that they go through a lot of different emotions in a single day.

5. Wanting to be with our parents

When we're little we want our parents to be there to comfort us when we get hurt or need a hug. We quickly realize in college that, while at first we thought we didn't need our parents to control us, we really miss them and would give anything to be able to see them.

6. Snack time

Because it's hard to get toddlers to eat regular meals at a table, they have a lot of snacks. In college, the freedom to set our own schedule means that we can eat whenever we want, so we stray from having actual meals to having snacks at random points during the day.

7. Eating whatever we can find

Along with snack time comes eating whatever we can find. With little kids you constantly have to ask what they're eating, because they'll consume anything they can fit in their mouth. As for college students, we have limited funds and the cafeteria food can get old, so we will eat just about anything that looks edible.

8. Spending the entire day in our pajamas

When you're little you have no daily commitments that require you to wear regular clothes, so PJs are perfectly acceptable attire for the entire day. When you get to college no one cares what you wear, and a lot of people just roll out of bed and wander to morning classes, so you can wear PJ's with no judgment.

Go ahead and embrace your inner child. Just because you're an adult doesn't mean you can't have fun like a little kid.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
