The holidays are almost here and, of course, everyone has something they really really want. College students are not excluded from this. That being said, college students tend to want things that are basically impossible. There is absolutely no way to purchase or make this things, but hey, a college kid can dream, right?
1. More than 24 hours in a day.
Some days, 24 hours isn't enough. There's papers to be written, tests to be studied for, and pages to be read, but there really isn't enough time to do all of that in between classes, while still having a spare moment to eat and sleep. An extra two or three hours would suffice.
2. Unlimited cash.
College is expensive. On top of the basic necessities, college kids have to pay for textbooks that'll barely be utilized, endless fees, tuition, and countless other odds and ends. Being able to go to school and not have to worry about going into debt would be pretty cool.
3. Energy.
There are some days when college students barely have the energy to walk across campus to class. Coffee practically flows through their veins, but sometimes even that is not enough. The energy to go to class and do actual work just does not exist sometimes, and would be a lovely gift.
4. A photographic memory.
Those tests and finals would be so much easier if photographic memories were something college kids could receive as gifts. Grades would go up, we'd have more time, and maybe, just maybe, we could do other important things, like nap and watch Netflix.
5. Free gas or plane/train/bus tickets.
Sometimes college students really miss their family, friends at other schools, or significant others. College is stressful and can oftentimes make you miss the ones you love most. Being able to travel back home without worrying about the cost would make all the difference to us.
So, this holiday season, know that when the college student in your life says they want clothes or technology as a gift, they really want this. These are the gifts that basically cannot be given, but so far, we're doing alright without them.
