It is that time of year again! Christmas music plays through the halls and in every coffee shop you go in you hear the word “gingerbread.” You excitedly check your bank account to see when you can start Christmas shopping; however, you soon realize that your bank account is not quite up to par. Here is a guide to help a college student get through the holiday season without breaking the bank any further.

1. For your parents

Try and see if you can do a split gift with your siblings. This way you are getting your parents something that they will really love and you are not breaking the bank.

I got this book for my mom last year and she absolutely adored it! It is around 10 dollars and you just have to fill in the blanks.

This cute book is another great idea for parents! All you need is a stack of playing cards, some ribbon, and the time to sit down and make this meaningful book.

2. For your friends

Get crafty! Hit up Pinterest and see what cute crafts you can make. Canvases, mugs, and mason jars are always a good idea.

This is an adorable gift idea for your friends! All you need is a mason jar and some Hershey's Kisses.

This canvas is a great idea and would look awesome on your friend's dorm room wall! All you need is a canvas and some crayons.

3. For your significant other

Try and set a price point. Odds are that if your significant other is in college as well they might be having the same dilemma. Also, remember to shop sales and always look for a promo code before checking out. Retailmenot is a great app for finding deals before you shop!

4. For your grandparents

I know the one thing my Grandparents love seeing more than anything is pictures of their grandkids. Grab your camera and take a cute picture of you and your siblings, put it into a frame, and then you have an awesome gift for your grandparents!

5. For your boss

It is time to get cooking! You do not have to get your boss a gift, but it is definitely a nice thought. I would say baking some cookies or other treats would be the perfect gift for your boss. Just make sure to check if they have any food allergies first!

I make these M&M pretzel treats ever year and they are always a hit. Here is the recipe:

Ingredients

  • 1 bag Pretzel Twists, Squares, Or Circles (9 Ounce Bag)
  • 1 bag Hershey's Kisses (12 Ounce Bag)
  • 1 bag (12 Oz. Size) M&Ms

Preparation

1. Spread your pretzels out on a cookie sheet, and place one Hershey’s Kiss on top of each pretzel.
2. Place sheet in the oven at 275 degrees for 3 minutes–just long enough for the Kisses to get soft.
3. Remove from oven, and immediately press a single M&M on each.
4. Refrigerate until eating to make sure they are deliciously solid!

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
