Spring Break. These two words bring so much happiness to a college student. It's a time to relax at any destination you please (preferably the beach) as well as get a little crazy with your best friends, of course. With so many places to go and things to do, here is a complete guide to the perfect college spring break.
Destination:
First things first, you need to pick where you want to go. For most, a beach is undoubtedly involved, but for some, other destinations are chosen. Popular beaches in Florida like Destin, Seaside, Pensacola, Orange Beach, Miami, and Panama City Beach are always fun. For something out of the usual, you could plan a fun trip to Savannah, Georgia, New Orleans, Louisiana, San Antonio, Texas, D.C., Yosemite National Park in California, the Grand Canyon in Arizona, or Nashville, Tennessee. This is basically a week that you could choose to go wherever you please. Whether it be by plane, or turned into a fun road trip with friends, pick your destination, pack your bags, and get traveling!
Travel Partners:
This can be a tough one. Deciding who you'll travel with on spring break can be difficult. Do you want to go with just a few close friends for a more low key week, or get a giant group together for a true spring break experience? Either way, it's bound to be a fun time, as long as you are spending it with people that you love and know you'll have a good time with.
Packing:
Depending on where you choose to go, this will change. No matter where you end up, you'll probably need a swimsuit. It is spring break after all, and you're bound to find a pool someplace. Also, if you're planning on being in the sun a lot, sunscreen and sunglasses are a must, not to mention a beach chair, towels, some sandals, and maybe a fresh pedicure. If you choose to do something out of the ordinary, whether it be hiking, sightseeing, shopping, or just going with the flow, you'll need shorts, t-shirts or athletic tops, tennis shoes, sandals, some cute sundresses, and maybe a few nice outfits for going out.
Other:
If the spring break party scene isn't your thing, or you just feel like doing something that will better yourself, try volunteering. You could go somewhere local, or for a fun experience, somewhere far away like Nicaragua. You may also feel like getting ahead on your studies and spend the break doing homework or maybe finishing up that online class. Another good option would be to work and make some money. You have all summer to party, so you may as well earn some extra cash to get you through the last two months of college. Then, there's always the option to do absolutely nothing and relax.
However you decide to spend your spring break, just make sure that you stay safe, hydrated, wear enough sunscreen, and most importantly, have fun! Spring break is a time meant to be enjoyed and is a major milestone in a young adult's life. My spring break experience was one of the best, and I will remember it forever!
