As August approaches and summer is winding down, there is only one thing on a college student's mind: returning to school. Students have reached the point where it has been nice to be home, but it has been too long and they are anxious to get back to school. Get back to freedom and friends. Whether you go to school five minutes from home or five hours, the start of a new school year is always exciting. It brings the opportunity to create new memories with old friends and it also brings the chance to meet new people. While many are anxiously awaiting their return to school for fall semester, make sure to take in every moment the summer still has left to offer, because when exam week rolls around you are going to wish you were relaxing on a beach instead. Here are 21 things to accomplish before the stress and fun of the school year returns.
1. Sleep. Sleep. Sleep.
2. Relax.
Take a breath before you get so caught up in assignments, all you want to do is curl up in a ball.
3. Embrace the last few weeks with your family.
You are bound to miss them, even a little.
4. Get everything you are taking back to school organized early so you can enjoy the last few weeks (or days) of summer.
5. Don't get caught up in having the best dorm decorations.
6. You don't need to pack your entire closet when you move in.
Trust me, it will only make your life more stressful.
7. Practice healthy living while you have the chance.
It is so much easier to eat healthy when you don't have 24/7 access to dining halls and junk food.
8. Workout. Workout. Workout.
Going back to school in shape not only gets you into the right mindset for a healthy semester, but it also doesn't hurt to show your friends how you changed over the summer.
9. Eat at all your favorite hometown restaurants.
Chances are they don't have them at school.
10. Eat as many homemade meals as possible.
You are 100 percent going to miss your parent's cooking after the fourth night in a row of microwave mac and cheese because you don't know how to cook and you simply cannot afford good food.
11. Binge watch a new show on Netflix (without feeling guilty about how long you are spending on it.)
12. See your friends from home as much as possible.
13. Take a hike.
Get outdoors before the cold weather comes.
14. Eat a snowball.
If your hometown doesn't have snowballs, I'm sorry you are missing out on greatness.
15. Try a new summer drink.
Get creative with drinks now, when your only option isn't drinking the cheapest bottle in the aisle.
16. Read a book.
Not because you have to, just for the fun of it.
17. Go to the beach.
18. Be the best you, you can be.
19. Go to a baseball game.
20. Go on an adventure to somewhere you have never been before.
21. Try staying off your phone for an entire day.
Be present. Enjoy at least one day without any distractions.
