10 Essentials College Students Can't Live Without

In This Article:

As any college student we are pretty hooked onto certain things that have become the normal, that most people could actually live without. But, no that is not the case for us. We're not completely adults yet, therefore, we can get a little leeway on some of the things we think we MUST have. I mean you only go college once in a life time, right? Might as well milk it.

1. Cell Phone

This is your right hand, you literally take it everywhere with you. It is the first thing that wakes you up in the morning and the last thing you see before you close your eyes at night. It is always ready for when you need to get out of boredom.

2. Coffee

Did someone say Starbucks? This is the only source of energy that can keep you up until 3 am to finish an assignment that is due the next day. Caffeine is an addiction that every college student needs in order to survive. This eventually becomes a bad habit, but hey it is the best tasting liquid.

3. Laptop

This is literally your life line second to your phone. Every college student needs their laptop in existence in order to function, but also to pass their classes. Let's face it, without our laptops functioning for us the last 4 years, we would not be able to survive.

4. Netflix

Netflix occupies a lot of our time, I mean why else would we say "no" to Friday night plans? We would rather stay in and finish up our favorite tv series until 3 am before going out sometimes or should i say most of the time.

5. Sparknotes

I swear it is every students dream when you realize your entire book is on Spark Notes. Pshh.. no more reading the entire book for us... heck we're lucky if we get through the summaries at times.

6. Wifi

When there is no internet, there is no life. You actually feel like you lost your best friend. A little panic ignites inside of you because your computer will no longer connect to the wifi.

7. Cheap Wine

We all love a girls night where we can rack up on cheap wine and chill at home. Sometimes we just buy a bottle for ourselves and pretend we have no other responsibilities due the next day. Hey.. it happens, okay?

8. Instagram

Let's face it we love refreshing our instagram every 5 seconds of the day. When we are too early for a class we scroll on Insta, When we don't want to talk to someone you recognize, we scroll on Insta. Insta is our life savior of awkward people contact.

9. Google

Google is so appreciated. We use it to Google our research topics, but we also use it to Google our cold symptoms too, which more then likely scares us enough to go see a real doctor. Regardless, Google you are the real MVP.

10. Take Out Food

When you say you're actually going to cook tonight... we all know that will be a lie by the time you reach your apartment. Let's face it, eating out has become such a daily routine for most of us in college, I don't know why we even entertain cooking.

Don't even feel bad if everything on this list relates to your current situation. We are all young and we should be enjoying every bit of our youth, even if that means developing crazy habits.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Kourtney Kardashian

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
