Yes, I'm 19 and Have My Own Business

I created my own photography business a few months ago and it's become pretty successful.

You may all be thinking: how does she have her own business? Is it really a business or is she just hyping herself up?

The answer is: yes, I do have my own business, and it's fairly successful. I have practiced photography and videography for several years now, and decided that I wanted to start making money off of my skills. I received a pretty good camera for Christmas last year, which was the first, and arguably the most important, step of the process. I then bought some more lenses, a tripod, and other equipment to use for my business. I then made a business plan: including what type of photography/videography I wanted to specialize in, who my target audience was, marketing strategies, etc.

Once I had everything planned out, I had to go and practice, and try and get my name out there. My sister was on the varsity softball team at her high school, so I started going and taking pictures of the players at their games for free. Everyone really enjoyed these pictures, and I even got a few of them as future clients for senior portrait photography! With all of these pictures, I created social media accounts for my business, like Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, etc. I also created a professional website, which I will link down below for reference: https://www.amberbeltzphotography.com/

The two fields I specialize in are portrait photography and event videography, so I had to practice those. It was fairly easy to practice portraits; I just asked friends of mine if they would let me pose them and take pictures of them, for free of course, and this way I could add those photos to my portfolio. Event videography, on the other hand, was a bit more difficult to practice, but fortunately enough, my cousin and her fiance were getting married and wanted a cheap videographer, so they asked me if I would do it. I said yes of course, and that was my first official wedding video. I booked another wedding video after that and a few more portrait sessions.

I am still continuing to grow, but for just a few months I am off to a pretty good start so far.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Blair Waldorf
Stop Hollywood

For those of you who have watched "Gossip Girl" before (and maybe more than just once), you know how important of a character Blair Waldorf is. Without Blair, the show doesn’t have any substance, scheme, or drama. Although the beginning of the show started off with Blair’s best friend Serena returning from boarding school, there just simply is no plot without Blair. With that being said, Blair’s presence in the show in much more complex than that. Her independent and go-getter ways have set an example for "Gossip Girl" fans since the show started and has not ended even years after the show ended. Blair never needed another person to define who she was and she certainly didn’t need a man to do that for her. When she envisioned a goal, she sought after it, and took it. This is why Blair’s demeanor encompasses strong women like her.

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
