You've just graduated from high school, incredibly excited to start yet another four year academic career, that could potentially do nothing more than put you in debt. I suppose if you enroll yourself in a profound university program, it could increase your chances of getting a job am I right?
Now, coming from a town where everyone had everything handed to them by their parents, it wasn't hard to be oblivious of the surrounding towns that did otherwise. Having lived in Avon, it is no surprise to see more than one person wearing the same name brand everything, holding a pumpkin spiced latte in one hand, all while struggling to find the keys to their BMW in their Louis Vuitton. But aside from the stereotype, it is truly scarce to hear of a struggling family anywhere near the Farmington valley.
Aside from making new friends, you immediately notice the differences between social classes. There are students who are clearly from the Farmington valley because, lets face it, there's no questioning it; and then there are students who probably could care less about what they wear or anyone else's opinion. At the end of the day, we're all in the same place attempting to accomplish the same thing; which is to buy a degree, no?
The main struggle within a college community is surviving the classes; which I think we can all agree with. The fact that you pay for it makes you feel guilty when you fail, and if you don't pay for it, I'm sure you still feel guilty when you fail. Throughout your time as a college student, you will go through drastic changes and several challenges, but you will overcome them. Overall, college is definitely one of the most exciting and memorable experiences in your lifetime, but no-one said it was easy.
