Once you’ve hit your sophomore or junior year of college and have decided to ditch the meal plan, you’ll need to buy your own food to stock the fridge. I don’t know how to cook many things, mainly because when it comes to food, I don’t have the patience to sit around waiting for it.
I know that many other college students are in the same annoying predicament — sick of dining hall food, but too lazy to actually cook. Therefore, I can guarantee that all of us, in our attempt to adult, will live off of the same 10 or so items.
1. Frozen chicken strips
What would any of us do without these, honestly? You can easily nuke them in the microwave, and they taste amazing.
2. Slightly burnt quesadillas
We probably got sidetracked and forgot to flip it over, so we'll have to accept the fact that it's a little burnt.
3. Microwaveable Ricearoni
It's easy, and it almost tastes like a gourmet meal. What more could you want?
4. Eggs in any form
We're always trying to justify eating eggs for every meal by saying, "I ate them two different ways! Scrambled and fried!"
5. Salads with whatever random produce you have
I don't even know what the actual definition of a salad is. But if it has lettuce it counts, right?
6. Boxed macaroni and cheese
Even if it's just boxed, it totally makes you feel like a chef to whip up some of this cheesy goodness.
7. Green smoothies
You wanna know how healthy I feel when I blend spinach and frozen fruit and drink it? Very.
8. Oatmeal
Sometimes it's boring, but it's easy. And you can always add any fruit to it that you need to get rid of.
9. Ramon noodles with a kick
Wanna spice up some cheap noodles? Just add hot sauce!
10. Frozen pizza
As long as, it's thin crust it's good for you, right?
If you can relate to living off of these foods, you're not alone. Someday we'll figure it out. But meanwhile, I'll be filling my tortillas with random vegetables and chowing down.
