The 11 Phases of Being A College Student (As Told By Zooey Deschanel)

What accurately depicts the life of a college student? Who or what could possibly do such a crazy thing? I have two words for you: Zooey Deschanel. Zooey Deschanel is the beloved actress we have all become too familiar with through the TV series "New Girl." She has shown us many times that she understands the emotions we go through everyday as college students.

1. When you meet someone new

We have all experienced this. The first time you meet someone, you don't know if you can be your weird, quirky self around them. Who wants to make a bad first impression? So what do we do? Activate awkward mode.

2. When you see someone attractive

You see the person from across the room and think, "Woah, who is that?" Too bad you didn't have time to shower this morning from studying so much last night or you would totally go tackle them.

3. When you are finally honest with yourself

Our parents always ask us the question, "Is there anything you need?" Well, the answer is always sleep. This is true especially during finals week. College is stressful and a lot of work, but it is all worth it once you hit the hay each night knowing that you've accomplished your goals. Sometimes that goal could just be staying awake during your classes that day, but you did it!

4. When you have news to share with your friends

It's college. We are not always with our friend group. Whenever something juicy happens while you're not with them, you have to tell them immediately, whether that means running to them or sending a message to your group text.

5. When your roommate finally leaves you alone in your room

The one thing we didn't realize we would lose when we came to college was our privacy. Yeah, we cherish our time alone now.

6. When all of your professors assign projects at the same time

This can't be right. It must be a mistake. Don't they have a meeting where they discuss these kinds of things?

7. When you party too hard

Our first priority is our schooling, but what happens when we have free time? You're right. Parties. Sometimes we might take this a little too far.

8. When you see food

Most of us do gain weight at some point in college. Why is this? When we see food we simply can't resist. It's our go to stress reliever.

9. When two of your friends get into a fight

You just can't choose sides. That would be too difficult. You're involved in two different groups of friends and it seems that they can just never get along, so you sit on the bench for this fight.

10. When you are studying for finals

It seems to be that one tunnel that has no light at the end. You don't want to study for that final because it's going to be really hard, and then you pick up the notes for the next class and realize that you are in trouble both ways.

11. When finals are finally over

Maybe you did alright. Maybe you didn't. All you know is that finals are over and it's time to cry tears of joy. Then you realize that you have to start all of this over again next semester. Now it's time to cry real tears.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
