Bob is passionate about the burger joint he runs with help from his wife Linda and less help from his three kids Tina, Gene, and Louise in the hysterical cartoon "Bob's Burgers". This show, binge-worthy and excellent, could just possibly be the struggle every student goes through while trying to survive college.

Move-in day

You've been counting down the days until you can move in and the day is finally here. You lug your stuff into your dorm and, before unpacking, go on a mission to find your friends who are all equally as excited as you are to be back together.

Syllabus week

You aren't used to waking up so early for classes so getting out of bed is a struggle.

Once awake, you have to mentally prepare yourself not to skip (this will continue through the rest of the semester/college career).

However, it's only syllabus week so classes aren't that hard... until all your professors decide to teach during the first class like it is their job or something.

Parties

Parties might be one of the best parts of college... don't tell my parents I said that.

With that brings...

Avoiding the frat guy who is trying to make his move

while trying to get that cute guy from your class to notice you.

Running out of money way too quickly

Being on your own requires more money than you think. Especially when you are buying alcohol/marijuana/take-out/doing things with friends. Everything adds up and you can only remember what it was like to have more than $17 in your bank account.

Eventually, you just have to stop spending money and go home.

Stu(dying)

College means an unreasonable amount of homework each night and with that, a lot of studying.

Your parents will check in weekly to make sure you are still on track for Dean's List while maintaining your internship and off campus job.

Constantly wondering if it is really worth it

All the work is so stressful and overwhelming that you just

At least three times a week you debate dropping out to pursue something much easier.

Making your own decisions

You don't have your parents to tell you what to do and what not to do so you are constantly pushing the boundaries to see what is possible.

Not all decisions are good ones. However, bringing food into bed with you is always a good idea... until you squish all your chips.

Roommates

Living with others is difficult when they aren't your family. They don't automatically forgive you for using all their things and eating all their food. Learning to live with others is difficult but a necessity in college. When you finally find those you live with perfectly (or pretty damn close to it) keep them close!

College is a rollercoaster experience, one that the Belchers can relate well to. Check out the show and good luck with the rest of your semester!

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
