When you attend and live near a college, you come across some phrases and words that you have never heard before. As a college student, these phrases just weasel their way into your vocabulary because you are surrounded by it so much. Some of these phrases may even bother you, but they still spill out because of the culture of slang at a college campus. Here are some examples:
1. "Send it"
We don’t casually just drink anymore, you send it back. This hazardous way of drinking arose amongst college kids binge drinking at parties and at bars. I highly do not recommend this, but sometimes it has to be sent.
2. "Lit"
“No, mom the people are not on fire, they are just lit.” When everyone is vibing and having a good time, this is the term that is thrown around.
3. "Slide"
Your friends don’t just show up to your house anymore, they slide through.
4. "GDI"
God Da** Independent. Typically someone not affiliated with a Greek organization; often throws really fun parties and let most guys in, unlike usual fraternity gatherings.
5. "Bet"
This is used to prove your friends wrong.
6. Being "Iced"
Not like the normal ice cubes, but Smirnoff Ice. Careful, if you get surprised and it’s an ‘Ice’, take a knee and start chugging for the Snapchats.
7. "What are the moves?"
Basically the decision of what the plans are going to be for the night.
