As a second-semester college senior, some of us are either in the home stretch or about to enter the home stretch. What I mean is graduation. With only a month and few weeks left of your college career, things are starting to seem very hectic. Assignments are starting to pile on like never before, you are trying to handle all that on top of working and most importantly finding the time to secure a job after graduation. It’s like a never-ending rope of things you need to get done. Trying to figure out how everything is going to get completed adds more and more stress. You realize that making a list and trying to be organized is making you even more stressed than you were before.
Don’t think that you are alone in this because every college senior is experiencing this right now. Whether they are facing it head on or simply avoiding the reality that’s about to enter their lives. One thing I have learned through this whole reality change or whatever you would call it. Is that, the plan you probably have set in stone will most likely not be what happens in the end. What I mean is that for me I had a whole plan figured out from the job I would hopefully get to the place I wanted to live. Recently, I started thinking that what if the plan I had in mind wasn’t what I really wanted. It’s the littlest things that can make you rethink everything and possibly change your mind. For me, it was hearing from a professional in my field of study spoke about her career and her line of work. I came to realize that what she did throughout her career aligns with my interests and personality. You may have the ah-ha moment now or in a few months from now but just know that you will find what you are looking for.
Talking things out with friends, family, or even your favorite professor can help reduce the stress. Some people may not believe it but utilizing career services can be beneficial. So, for all you struggling college seniors out there just remember you are not alone. Take it one step at a time and everything will plan out the way it is supposed to.
Best of Luck xx
