All The Feelings You Have Going Into Your Senior Year Of College

In This Article:

Four years come and go so quickly. I feel like it wasn't that long ago at all that I was moving into my freshman dorm and watching my parents cry as they told me goodbye. Everyone always told me that it would go by so quickly, and to make the most of it. I never thought it would go as fast as it did, though. I believe I really have made the most of my college experience, and will continue to do so for my senior year.

Going into your senior year can be such a surreal feeling. When you're a freshman, it feels like the day will never come that you're a senior. But then you blink and it's here before you know it.

Here are all the feelings you will experience going into your senior year.

1. Excitement.

Knowing that you are so close to walking across the stage and receiving your diploma is such an exhilarating feeling. It feels great knowing that all your hard work in school and late nights studying are about to pay off. It is also exciting to figure what your next step in life is going to be.

2. Sadness.

Knowing that this is the last year you will be in the same place with all of your best friends can be a pretty sad feeling. You start to experience all of your last events together like your last first day of class, your last tailgate season, and your last time living together. Even though it's sad, it only makes you cherish the time you have to spend together more.

3. Fear.

Although college is so much fun, it is scary knowing that you are about to go out into the real world. For about 15 years, school is one of the only responsibilities you have had. Thinking about getting a big girl job and being on my own is a pretty scary thought.

4. Nostalgia.

Looking back on all the fun times you've had thus far in college can be both happy and sad. It's sweet to remember all the fun times you've had with friends and all the memories that are going to be made. But it's sad because it's coming to an end so soon.

5. Stress.

Coming out of the summer of junior year, senior year really hits you out of nowhere. Most people haven't even looked at a syllabus or ordered a textbook. There is also the dilemma of choosing to go to grad school, or trying to find a job out of college. All of the stress with classes and plans for the future can be so overwhelming.

Although there are many mixed emotions that come along with senior year, it is the last year of undergrad and it should be lived to the fullest. Everyone has always told me that these are the best years of your life and that they shouldn't be taken for granted, and I am determined to have the best year yet!

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.
