Before I headed off to college I was told time and time again that it was going to be the hardest four years of my life.
In reality, I feel less stressed than I did in high school. It's rare if I get less than seven hours of sleep each night, and I have time for all my friends.
I think the problem today is people think college is this big scary monster and everyone in the institution is really just out to get you.
But that couldn't be more untrue.
College is where you are going to find networks that are going to help you for the rest of your life.
Just over the course of one and a half semesters, I was able to meet people with different backgrounds and stories. I even met professionals in my future field who I could call on for advice when finding internships or when I just needed advice in choosing classes.
I personally have never felt like others are competing with me in college. I have always felt like my friends and classmates have been there to support me and to help me do the best I can.
There isn't going to be this very cliche drama that could be seen in high school. I remember one time in high school, I was told to move because a girl and her friends were the only ones who could sit in a certain spot at lunch. I honestly was appalled it was even a thing within a high school in 2017, but it actually happened.
In college, though, that stuff just doesn't fly. No one would come up to someone sitting in the Student Center and say, "Hey that's my spot, don't sit here." Everyone just realizes that we are all adults and it's time to actually do some adulting.
So have no fear. There are so many myths about college flying around that it seems as though there is really nothing we can do about it.
But in reality, college will really be one of the best times of your life, and there will be such a level of fulfillment to come out of it.
