Hey you! You made it past midterms! I am so very proud of you and you should be too. Transitioning to college is hard but you're doing all right. But still, college is not all that you thought it would be, huh? Well, it's okay.

It's okay that you stopped talking to so many of your high school friends. You both need to grow up, and maybe separately is the only way you will reach your potential. If you ever miss them, you're only a message, text, or call away.

It's okay if your high school friends are still your friends. Let that relationship continue to blossom for maybe those people are meant to be in your life forever. Just remember that you might grow apart and find new friends. Let life happen and carry on.

It's okay that you failed that first test. College is a new thing for you. There'll be many opportunities for you to make up to get the grade you need. Also, you now know how your professors format the tests so you'll know how to study for them next time. You'll be more prepared next time.

It's okay that you don't have many friends at college. You need to learn to enjoy some solitude. Also keep in mind that it has only been 9 weeks! You have 3 1/2 years still to make those life-long friends you're craving. Give it time and put yourself out there.

It's okay that your roommate is not your best friend. Think of her as a sibling: sometimes hard to love but she's there with you and for you. Be nice, give her space, and let the friendship naturally grow.

It's okay that you don't party. You're young and have so many years ahead of you; party then but work hard now.

It's okay that you gained the infamous "freshman fifteen." Don't hate your body. It's normal that you did. Go to a zumba or pilates class. You'll have fun, you'll make friends, and you'll shed the weight.

It's okay that your college experience isn't what you see on Instagram. Don't taint your experience by comparing it to others. Let yours happen and enjoy every minute of it.

Remember how amazing High School Musical seemed? High school wasn't anything like that, so don't let the image you have in your head about how college should be ruin what college can be. Let yourself enjoy everything that college brings.

Enjoy the walk to Starbucks, the crisp air, the ups-and-downs of life. Go to the games, the concerts, and the karaoke nights. Go to the gym, the diner, and the library. Walk around campus and enjoy it for all it can be. Smile at strangers and live. These won't be the best years of your life if you don't allow them to be.

Slow down and enjoy every moment. You'll only live it once and you don't want to miss it. And always remember, you got this. I believe in you.

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
