College Move In From First-Year to Junior Year

It's still exciting and dreadful, no matter what year.

College Move In From First-Year to Junior Year

College move in whether you're a First-Year or junior coming around for your third move in, it's always exciting and nerve wracking. You're First-Year, you're coming in knowing maybe one or two people already but not actually knowing much else on where you're living and who your roommates are. But coming back for your junior year, your third move in, it can be just as exciting, but for a few different reasons.

As a First-Year, you may not be as comfortable and you might even be asking yourself if this can be your home for the next four years, or if this was the right decision. You might not know your way around campus, and you might even hate all the core classes you're registered for. You might have only had a few text message interactions with your roommate, and then you have the awkward meeting as you both get to your room moving in. But coming in for your freshman year, it's a whole new chapter in your life that you'll embark on.

Now as a junior, it's a little bit different. You already know all about your roommates, you most likely chose them. You already know where you'll be living, and you've also most likely already seen the inside of your apartment. You're hopefully deep within your major, loving your classes. You should know your way around campus pretty much with your eyes closed, and know all the shortcuts. Coming back as a junior, you're gung-ho on seeing all your friends and catching up on how their summers were even before you're completely unpacked into your new apartment for a year. Now a junior, you might know your way across campus, and it might feel like the same old, but every year is a new year. It's as equally exciting.

But there are a few things that will always be there same whether you're a freshman or a junior moving in.

1. You'll be waiting in ridiculously long elevator lines to bring your stuff upstairs, or you'll carry everything up many flights of stairs.

2. The parking lots will always be madness.

3. Everyone always seems to be moving at the same time, and you feel cramped up on everyone.

4. There is always a sense of excitement for what new adventures and journeys this new year will give you.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
