Let’s be real. College is an amazing environment, but the difficulty of living on your own, in addition to the stress of keeping up your grades, can be overwhelming. Here are some of the most common thoughts college students have during their meltdowns.
1. "I have no friends"
You’re sitting in your dorm room on a Saturday night, aimlessly searching through Facebook and Snapchat stories. It seems like everybody else is living the college experience, having a grand old time without you. Cue meltdown.
2. "I'm gaining so much weight"
It’s currently 3 AM, and you’re on your third bowl of instant ramen (you might be more MSG than human at that point). You had ice cream for breakfast, brownies for lunch and cookies for dinner the day before. Cue meltdown.
3. "I just want good food"
Dining halls just can’t seem to get it right. Your taste buds are screaming for one, just one, mouth-watering, delectable meal. Cue meltdown.
4. "I have no money"
You have to pay club dues this week. You just got a bill form the student health center for your visit the other day. Your friend is asking you to Venmo back the money you owe them for buying you Cookout last night. You watch as the money in your bank account slowly dwindles away. Cue meltdown.
5. "My schedule is too much"
With 3 midterms, sorority activities, and your best friend’s birthday coming up, there just doesn’t seem to be enough hours in a day to get everything done. Cue meltdown.
6. "Is 1 hour of sleep enough?"
There is no such thing as sleep.
7. "What am I doing with my life?"
You thought you had it all figured out. You’re going to major in Computer Science, get a once-in-a-lifetime internship over the summer, and get an amazing job offer right out of college. Except you just bombed two of your Computer Science classes, and now your GPA is going to tank, along with the rest of your career. Time to change majors and rethink your life. Cue meltdown.
