10 Times College Made All Students Say 'Yep, I'm Dropping Out'

College is hard. If you are like me, working a job, participating in extracurricular activities, and always keeping busy, it can be a lot. There have been weeks when I've had three exams, a paper to write, and a bunch of homework due all on top of working two-three days-a-week. Usually, I can handle it all, but sometimes I want to just relax in my bed with a yummy cup of tea while watching Netflix.

Whenever I get in situations like that, the only thing I know how to do is scream out to all my roommates, "I WANT TO DROP OUT OF COLLEGE!"

So, here is a list of all the times you want to drop out of college.

1. When you spend weeks studying for a test and end up failing it

Sometimes, you have to live in the library for weeks to study for a huge test, and when you get a failing grade, it really puts a damper on your thoughts about college.

2. When you forget about a huge assignment and have to do it all the night before

There are some moments when you're so busy with one or two classes, you completely forget to do an assignment for another class and have to stay up all night to finish it on time.

3. When your final is cumulative of the whole semester

Tests are hard, especially when they cover all the information you learned over the semester.

4. When you have to miss out on a trip because you have to study

All your friends are traveling to the beach or another university for a huge event, but you sadly have to stay home and study for an exam that your professor assigned you on that Monday.

5. When your professor assigns a project over a break

Everyone has that one professor who does not care about life outside of class and assigns you a project over break and wants you to suffer.

6. When all your friends are going out but you have to finish up school work

Who doesn't love knowing all their friends are having a great time out while they get to stay home and do homework.

7. When it is raining on campus

Walking in the rain to class is the absolute worst.

8. When you have class after a huge (drinking) holiday

Class after Cinco De Mayo, seriously? Professors must know what the holiday entails.

9. When you realize how broke college makes you

Groceries, alcohol, trips, events, and many more things add up, especially when you don't even have the money to pay for them.

10. When you have to take summer classes and it takes up your WHOLE summer

A class that should take a full semester but is rushed through in six weeks over the summer = a sh*t ton of work you did not think you would have.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
