An inside look at females dorms at Monmouth College

College Living

I attend a very small Private- Liberal Arts College located in rural Monmouth, IL. They accept about 2,000 students onto campus. It was founded in the year 1853. I am a sophomore on campus and will give an overview of the female dorms on campus and pictures of what they look like.

(from Google)

1. Living in a Dorm

The essential part of living on campus is that you'll live in a dorm and most likely with a roommate unless you want to pay about $500 extra for a single room. I have personally had 4 different roommates and have lived in 3 dorms so far on campus. My freshman year I lived in Grier hall for the fall semester but by spring semester I had moved into Liedman hall. My sophomore year I moved into Fulton.

*Living in a dorm can be frustrating at times but being able to talk to an RA or HR is very benifical. I hope the pictures within this article can also help you understand what a dorm looks like and If you decide to come to MC to have an idea of what they look like.

Grier Hall-

Grier is located on the East side of campus and is sandwiched between McMichael (female dorm) and Winbigler (a male dorm). It is also catycorner from Stockdale, the cafeteria and is close to the Hewe's Library. This is primarily a freshman dorm but upper-class man can also be found here.

This hall is has the set up of a hotel as it was the nurses quarters back during a war ( which one I cannot think of right this moment). Their are 3 floors along with a main lounge area on the first floor. Adjacent to the main lounge is the hall kitchen that is available to all residence. Outside of the main lounge is a private movie room where I had many movie nights with my friends. Below the main floor in the basement is the laundry room and where trash and recycling is located. I lived on the second floor which wasn't too bad.

(Below are some pictures from when I did move in and got settled)

Liedman Hall-

Liedman is located on the East side of campus and is by the Fraternity Complex, football field and Cleland Hall ( a male dorm). It is relatively close to the library for late night runs for a printer and study sessions. This is primarily a freshman dorm but upper-class women can be found here as well.

This hall has a set up of two different towers A and B is as creative as they could get. Tower A has 4 floors because the basement is also housed under that tower whereas Tower B has 3 floors, otherwise they both have 3 floors just the A tower seems like more because of the layout of the basement.

( I unfortunately cannot find any pictures that I took of Liedmans hall set-up)

Fulton Hall-

Fulton is located on the West side of campus by the upper class-man dorms. It is housed between the Mellinger Center, a 24-hour access computer lab, home of English professors offices and the Writing Center; and the Huff Athletic Center. It is also not too far away from the cafeteria or CSB (Center for Science and Business).

This hall I think by far has the weirdest layout and set-up of all the dorms that I have lived in within 2 years, the shape of this building is a T and has 4 floors. It is primarily an upper-class man dorm but freshman can be housed here if Greir and Liedman are full.

To My Loving Boyfriend,

  • Thank you for all that you do for me
  • Thank you for working through disagreements with me
  • Thank you for always supporting me
  • I appreciate you more than words can express
  • You have helped me grow and become a better person
  • I can't wait to see where life takes us next
  • I promise to cherish every moment with you
  • Thank you for being my best friend and confidante
  • I love you and everything you do

To start off, here's something I don't say nearly enough: thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You do so much for me that I can't even put into words how much I appreciate everything you do - and have done - for me over the course of our relationship so far. While every couple has their fair share of tiffs and disagreements, thank you for getting through all of them with me and making us a better couple at the other end. With any argument, we don't just throw in the towel and say we're done, but we work towards a solution that puts us in a greater place each day. Thank you for always working with me and never giving up on us.

Ah, yes, good old Hauppauge. We are that town in the dead center of Long Island that barely anyone knows how to pronounce unless they're from the town itself or live in a nearby area. Hauppauge is home to people of all kinds. We always have new families joining the community but honestly, the majority of the town is filled with people who never leave (high school alumni) and elders who have raised their kids here. Around the town, there are some just some landmarks and places that only the people of Hauppauge will ever understand the importance or even the annoyance of.

Tamatoa created a liar filled with shiny things simply for the purpose of tricking fish to enter and become his food. He too experiences a lesson in how easy it is to be tricked by shiny things when Moana distracts him by covering herself in glowing algae so Maui can grab his hook.
