Betty White, Hollywood's Golden Girl, celebrated her 95th birthday last week and she is still as lively and hilarious as ever. Betty lives a life that embraces anything that is thrown at her, usually with a smile and witty sense of humour, and I think we can all learn a thing or two from that way of living.
Betty White is sassy, spunky and comically relatable. She says the things we are all thinking. Betty always tells it like is, and if you didn't know any better, you'd think she was one of us.
As with life, college is full of many ups and downs that we know all too well. Most of the time, the struggle is real and we all can relate. So the least we can do is all laugh at the ups and downs that college throws our way. These are 15 of the many aspects of college life that we all have experienced.
1. The Freshman 15 goes on easier than you think
Whether we like to admit it or not the Freshman 15 is real and really tortuous.
2. Sometimes you have no idea what's going on in class
Let's be real, we have all been there and sometimes you just have to fake it till you make it.
3. The struggle is real
Papers, exams, projects, studying, notes... you name it, we do it. Some days we all feel like the world might end, but there's nothing a nap and food can't fix.
4. It's 5 o'clock somewhere, right?
5. When you know a few of the questions on the exam
Sometimes the best option you have is to be optimistic.
6. The feeling you get on the rare occasion of not having homework
Moments like this seem to be far and few between, so you have to capitalise and enjoy it. Whether that be going out with friends or simply binge-watching something on Netflix... more power to ya!
7. Getting up for class only to find out its canceled
Whoever thought that a 9 a.m. class would be so challenging to wake up on time for? Once you make the mistake of not checking your email before class, you will never do it again.
8. Social media is LIFE
Enough said.
9. Sitting in class like...
We've all een in class at one point wanting to ask questions and even though professors may say that "no question is a dumb question" it's not worth the risk. We usually just ask another student what they meant, after class.
10. When you procrastinate until the last possible minute
We all put the "pro" in procrastination. No matter what we tell ourselves it always seems that we end up working to finish something or studying like our lives depend on it; because it does.
How does that saying go? "If the due date isn't tomorrow, today isn't the do date." Seems about right.
11. Going home on breaks and eating a real meal
Home is where the heart is... and food. No matter what anyone tells you, nothing will ever compare to a home-cooked meal; especially food from a dining hall.
12. The best days are when there are puppies on campus
Whether we're stressing over midterms, finals, or just having a bad day, puppies can solve it. The only issue I think people have with these days is that there isn't enough of them.
13. We all feel like this at some point
More often than not, college makes us feel like we have no idea what we're doing with our lives. Are we in the right major? Are we taking the right classes? Are we prepared for our future? Sometimes we just have to grin and bear it. It will all work out eventually... I hope.
14. When someone asks what your plans are after graduation
This is one of the most dreaded questions.
Do I know what I want to do? No.
Will I know anytime soon? I really don't know
What do I know? I can't wait to graduateMost of the time we may not have it all together and we have to take it a day at a time. Nonetheless, our college experience will leave us memories and lessons learned. Even if everything isn't all that enjoyable, at least we can look back one day and laugh at our time and what we went through. We can be grateful for where we are because of college; at least we didn't struggle alone!
"It's your outlook on life that counts. If you take yourself lightly and don't take yourself so seriously, pretty soon you can find the humor in our everyday lives, and sometimes it can be a lifesaver." - Betty White
