Everyone has heard of the famous musical city where music flows from every open door. Where you're either decked out in cowboy boots or a beanie and some circular glasses. So many of us have seen the shows and heard the discovery stories but not enough of us have been able to truly experience the energy and life found in its streets. Whether you're in college, newly married or have a family here is a college girls guide on the top 10 things to do for a weekend Nashville, Tennessee.

1. Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams

1892 Eastland Ave.

If you're looking for a refreshing treat with ingredients you can say and feel good about, come here!! They're flavors were so rich and creamy without worrying about what is going inside you. The atmosphere was fun and even at 11 on a Friday night they had people of all ages sitting around enjoying each other's company.

2. Biscuit Love

316 11th Ave. S.

If you're looking for where country meets modern day style come to Biscuit Love found in The Gulch, but get there early because their popular food has lines formed down the street for people waiting to get a table.

3. What Lifts You Wings

302 11th Ave. S.

Nashville is filled with artistry but is famous for its beautiful murals that are tucked between restaurants and parking garages. So after your delicious meal at Biscuit love walk down the street to these beautiful wings and take that perfectly artistic picture you were looking for.

4. Broadway St.

If you're looking for a place that fully encompasses the energy and talent that fills Nashville, take a walk down the main street downtown to live the full experience. No matter the time of day you'll hear the strum of a guitar as you walk by the open doors of the bars. You'll see the beautiful horses pulling a couple through the streets and the laughter from the many bridal parties here for their weekend of fun.

5. Shelby Street Pedestrian Bridge

To see the city from a different eye make your way to the Shelby Street Bridge. If you want the exercise or the beautiful pictures that await you at the top make sure to find yourself here at some point during your trip.

6. I Believe In Nashville

DCXV Industries, 727 Porter Rd.

Another typical tourist attraction is the famous I Believe In Nashville murals. There are three located throughout the city so don't worry about finding one that's close to you. The one we decided on was right outside DCXV Industries. If you walked down the street you will find the place American Pickers featured on their television show, Antique Archaeology.

7. Honky Tonk Central

Double-decker buses are cool but have you ever been to a tripple-story bar? Honky Tonk Central is found on a corner with a full bar and stage on every floor. Each band is preforming differently for different crowds or numbers of people, but the energy is amazing. This is a great place for 18 and up until they kick you out at 9:30 and then let the 21 and up have their fun. We recently saw Conner Sweet and his band perform there and they were absolutely amazing.

8. Five Daughter Bakery

1900 Eastland Ave #101

I have never been the one to eat organic, paleo or gluten free but walking the streets of Nashville its very common to see restaurants that serve that very thing. Five Daughters is the home of the 100 layer donut that will cause you to go into a blissful sugar coma.

9. Bluebird Cafe

4104 Hillsboro Pike

My absolute favorite part of the trip were the hours spent in this strip of store that holds the treasure that is The Bluebird cafe. The way they seat you is on a first-come first-serve basis and have the doors open at 5 and then another time at 8. For the 5 time we got there a little after 3 and were about 40th in line. This is the cafe where singers like Taylor Swift and Garth Brooks played before they got famous. The man that played for us that night had written songs for Georgia Strait and Sam Hunt.

10. Wildhorse Saloon

120 2nd Ave. N.

The Wildhorse is a family-friendly saloon where you can bring your friends and family for great food and line dancing lessons. They had an instructor on the stage to teach you the line dance and then they played two songs to help you get the hang of it. Its a fun atmosphere and kids can enjoy the dancing and food while parents sit at the bar.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
