College students just don't make sense sometimes.

College Kid Habits As Told By A College Kid

When in college, students tend to adopt this whole new way of thinking. Perhaps that is the whole purpose of higher education. Within this new way of thinking is a college culture that is quite contagious. While students start embrace this culture they adapt the habits that come with it. Here are eleven college student habits, as told by a college student.

1. Trash talk the refs at sports events.

No matter what the sport, the referee usually makes the wrong call and we usually hate him. It's not personal but the referee can either favor our team or be the enemy.

2. Calculate the highest grade you need to get on the midterm/final/homework for an A; or a C.

We have all been there. When that final grade determines your A minus or B plus; or you passing the class versus failing.

3. Going to parties the night before an 8 AM class.

You have this 8 AM class every Thursday but this All White Party only comes once a semester. Plus the whole purpose of college is to prepare one for real life situations such as these...right.

4. Complain about their own college.

No college is perfect. If the food sucks, there's never seats in the library or there's no hot water in the showers, college kids will make sure that their concerns are heard.

5. Talk shit about everyone else's college.

Most students believe that their college is better than everybody else's. If not, you're at the wrong college. College wars are very much alive and real.

6. Complain about being unemployed.

Being jobless and broke sucks. It sucks even more on a campus. For some reason walking around campus will give you the biggest urge to shop and want things.

7. Complain about having a job.

As much as having money is fun every working college student knows all the thoughts that come to you while at work: I could be doing homework right now. Is this really worth it. Why couldn't I be born to Beyonce`?

8. Sit across from the salad bar to discuss how their school's cafeteria fails to provide nutritious food.

Don't get me wrong food that lacks in nutrition is a trademark for most colleges. Regardless, college makes you gain weight and it feels good to have that fault in the system to blame it on.

9. Go to office hours.

That's a good one!

10. Stay off your phone during lecture.

If you want to go to college that means you take your education seriously. That is why college students would never pull out their phones during class.

11. Go to events because the flyer said there will be food.

If you want a college event to have a big outcome the event flyer needs to say that there will be free food. Telling college students that there will be any free thing will get people to come, but food works best.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
