It's the time to figure yourself out.

College is supposed to be the best four years anyone experiences. Anything can happen. It's the transition into becoming more of an adult and taking more responsibility. It's the time to let loose. It's the time to figure out what you want to do with your life. It's the time for just about anything.

A student can start their college career as a biology major and finish their college career as a business major. It's the time to try out some classes, realize you actually hate it, decide this major might not be for you and try a whole new path. This is the time to understand what you want to do with your life (or at least have a general idea).

It's the time to try out drinking for the first time. You have one bad night and realize that drinking may not be for you. You try out the party scene. Still not for you. Or it may be. Everyone comes into college wanting to try out these scenes and see if they enjoy it. Many do. Many don't. Everyone is different, but don't knock it until you try it.

New people are all around you. New men. New women. Let loose and try to understand what you're looking for relationship wise. Maybe you thought one way your entire life, get to college and try out something new, realize you feel more comfortable, and you start your lifestyle feeling more you than ever. You never know until you give it a try.

Maybe the college you decide in general may not be what you thought it was. You now know because you were able to experience it yourself. You have an idea of what you're looking for now. You may have gone to a big school and decide that a small school would be best. Tried out a college in the city? A small town may be more comfortable for you. There is nothing wrong with changing schools to better fit your need.

You may have signed on to take this big internship and you realize a month later that you don't want to do this for a career. You would have never known unless you tried it out first. If you denied it, you would have wondered if that was the best decision and you will always wonder. Now you have an idea of what you don't want to do with your life. You can use process of elimination.

College is the time to figure yourself out before you officially step into adulthood. This is the time to do what is best for you. This is the time to figure out what makes you truly happy.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
