Let’s be honest, we never actually leave home when we embark on our college years. Even though we become the independent knowledge-seekers we never thought we could be, our parents never leave our side. From late night “oh sh*t” calls to the frequent “can you send some money my way” conversations, your parents are always there for you and can fix the problems you know you may not be able to fix yourself.

Can you read my homework assignment? I have no idea what is going on.

I am not ashamed to say that I have had to call my parents to ask what an assignment entails or have my mom look over my papers to make sure I am actually making sense.

If I see tomorrow that money has been deposited, I would not mind.

Seeing a raise in your bank account is one of the most heartwarming moments while at school.

The commonsense questions we should know the answers to: Do I set the wash to hot or cold water? Foil is good in the microwave, right? Or is that the oven?

Do not be embarrassed. We ask them the questions we are too nervous to ask our friends, in case of a "You got in to college?" look.

I’m in need of a care package, if you have the free time…

What date is the real expiration date?

Always trying to get that extra week out of your groceries is like a competitive sport when you live on your own.

I got a __ percent on my test! I also need ____.

Squeezing in the extra good news never hurts in case of something you need soon, or when the next argument about the data overage occurs.

Should I do this? I need to do this. I should probably do it. Right?

Would this taste good?

Creating a combination of all the leftovers or any spare food you have in the pantry is like an eighth grade science experiment.

But school is my job.

I know having a job would be great for me, but I am really trying to focus on my studies.

Your parents are always going to be your number one supporters, and be there for the questions you cannot ask anyone else. Understand that even a junior needs to call his mom at 2 a.m. asking for help on a paper. Much love, Mom and Dad.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
