Every time I go home everyone asks, "how's school?" Well to be real frank with you, college is awesome, but the school work is harder than anything I've ever had to do in my life. I grew up in a small, southern city. Therefore, all of my teachers were from the south and they talked like me. Now that I'm in college, half the teachers are foreign, so I honestly don't know what they are saying half the time. I'm paying to take a class that I am having to teach myself. It's a heck of a lot harder than high school, where if you missed a day you didn't miss anything. If you miss a day in college, you might be screwed or you might be absolutely fine. It's a game of chance.
That being said, I love being in college.
I love the friends I've made, I love living on my own, and I love being able to stay out all hours of the night(at the library, mom), and not having to worry about having a curfew. I feel like I've grown so much in the few months I've been here. Don't believe me, go compare my senior year drapes to my sorority drapes this year. I look like a completely different person. Also, I have grown in maturity. I no longer give a darn if someone says something about me, that's their problem, not mine. In high school, I would've tried to fix that all costs. In college, there is really no time to care about what others have to say. If you never want to see them again, you can make that happen. Unlike in high school, where you had the same people in the majority of your classes and you just couldn't get away from them.
Some people say that high school was the best four years of their lives, I obviously did not have the same experience. My first semester of college was a lot better than the four years I was in high school. High school was full of easy classes and drama. College is full of harder classes and you can be as involved or not involved as you want to. I was talking to one of the four friends I still talk to from high school, and she is not "involved" in college but she loves it. I am basically the polar opposite of her, but I love what I'm doing and who I'm surrounding myself with.
