How To Get In The Holiday Spirit
Meatless Monday

Thanksgiving has now past, you wasted your paycheck Black Friday shopping, and final are coming up. It's times like these that getting into the "holiday spirit" is harder than trying to get an A on your biology exam. So here are a few things to get you into the holiday spirit!

1. Ugly Sweater Party

Nothing is better than throwing on an ugly sweater and hanging out with all of your friends.

2. Bake Cookies all night

Who doesn't love all the types of cookies that can be made during the holiday season?

3. Holiday Movies on Netflix

Netflix always has a decent selection of Christmas movies. So grab your BFF, fuzzy blanket, cup of hot chocolate, and lay around all day watching your favorite holiday classics.

4. Decorate your dorm room with lights, wreaths, and holly galore.

Waking up and going to bed with twinkling lights around you is an amazing feelings. Trust me.

5. Make a playlist.

Grab your textbooks and jam out to "Last Christmas" while studying for finals.

6. Go ice skating.

If you live somewhere cold enough, like Milwaukee, they usually have outdoor ice skating rinks. Take your crush from Chemistry or you best friend. Either way, you'll have a blast.

7. Hot chocolate for days.

Hot chocolate is the best way to warm up and watch the snow fall around you.

9. Go see A Christmas Carol or The Nutcracker at a local theatre.

You get to dress up, see an amazing performance, and get in the holiday spirit!

10. Drive or walk around all the light decorations in the city.

Cities go crazy with lights. Check them out.

13. Enjoy the snow (if there's snow on campus).

Snow is by far the best part of Winter. Might as well go out and enjoy it.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
