Dear aspiring degree seekers,
This isn't Harry Potter. You're not seeking the Golden Snitch. You won't won't learn any magic spells nor will you get to compete in the Triwizard Tournament. College mail also doesn't travel by owl. Chances are you won't be traveling by train and Lord Voldemort isn't constantly trying to kill you.

However, you will make strong relationships. You will be put in rooms with like minded people. Each person just as eager to get out of class as you. Friendships will most likely be tested when you snap due to lack of sleep but they will stick around. They understand. Deadlines will keep you up because you pushed your 5-10 page paper to the night before. Those will probably be the nights you wished you had Hermione's Time Turner necklace.

Without Hermione's necklace it makes it harder to manage time but being punctual will help your grade in the long run. The universe doesn't revolve around you because you're not Harry Potter so keep an open line of communication with your Professor. They are people who understand life happens. So if you're going to be late or miss a class let them know you'll be late. Punishments aren't as harsh as being sent into the Forbidden Forest but losing a whole letter grade or failing a class might leave the same feeling in your stomach.

Last but not least smile. Think of it this way, you're going to school and no one is trying to kill you, because you're not Harry Potter. If you're struggling your friends will help you. If something doesn't make sense in class that's what your professor is for, and remember this is supposed to be the best four years of your life.
Sincerely,
Your Fellow Wizard
