A College Student's Review Of Hello Fresh

A few weeks ago I was getting ready to go grocery shopping when I got the idea to give a meal kit a try. I researched various providers, and realized Hello Fresh seemed to be the one I would like best. I registered and picked out my meals for the following week... and waited, not so patiently, for them to arrive. The first week I chose Cauliflower Pancetta Macaroni and Sweet as Honey Chicken.

When I opened the box I was thoroughly surprised that everything was still fresh, but I guess they know what they`re doing after all. They add insulation in the box and several Ice packs to keep everything cold. My box sat in the office of my apartment complex for four hours, and it was still cold, I was immediately impressed. The ingredients for each meal, excluding meat, come separately packaged in labeled bags. You also get recipe cards, printed in color with pictures to describe each step.

The first meal I cooked was the Chicken. The bag Came with all the ingredients needed to be measured and separately packaged. A great thing about Hello Fresh is that there is a section on the recipe card that tells you what all you will need that they don`t supply, pans and such. I began the recipe, and it was super easy to follow. The fact that each step has a picture to go with it was super helpful to me because I was able to compare what my meal looked like to theirs. It can get a little tough to manage when you have to do multiple things at once, but I just invited friends over and we had a little dinner party cooking my Hello Fresh meals. The steps are super easy to follow and use basic cooking knowledge, no matter what cooking skill level you are, you can do these recipes. This meal, along with all the others I have ordered, tasted amazing! I have been trying new foods, and it`s been so much fun to make these new recipes every week!! My only complaint with the food so far has been the rice, most of the meals come with jasmine rice, and I`m just not a big fan of this type.

I have received Hello Fresh for three weeks now, and I love it! Overall, it is such a good way to discover new recipes and they are simple to follow and turn out amazing! The cost can be a little pricey, but pretty much every youtuber has partnered with Hello Fresh, and most have a coupon code. I used a code that gave me $20 off each of my first three boxes, which meany I only spent $15 dollars. I`m usually the only one who eats the meals, so one box gives me four to five meals. Five meals for fifteen dollars is amazing, and so much cheaper than eating out or buying food from the grocery store. I definitely recommend Hello Fresh to college students. Even though it can be expensive, it`s definitely worth the purchase!

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
