5 College Hacks To Stay Successfully Organized In College

Staying organized in college can be tricky, but here are a few tips that help make it a little easier to do so!

planner

Tip 1: You've heard it a million times... I'll say it again. Seriously invest in a planner!

A planner allows for you to literally write down absolutely everything you could possibly have to do... It may sound like a waste, but if you use it effectively, it literally saves you. I probably wouldn't have shown up to half of the meetings that I scheduled my freshman year (advising, etc.) if it weren't for me writing them down in my planner.

Tip 2: Take time to get your life together!!

Between work, school, a hefty social life, and everything else life has to throw at you, it can get a little messy. I would highly recommend picking one night out of the week where you allow yourself to take time to just clean up everything and get ready for the following week. I typically dedicate my Sunday night's after I get back from chapter with my sorority to clean up my room and prepare for what's to come the following week (ex: what days I need to study, write down events I have coming up, or even sometimes planning time to hang with friends).

Tip 3: Keep everything in one place.

Keep in mind that all of your professors are going to be asking for completely different things and handing back a million papers or worksheets. The nice thing about modern day technology is that most colleges have an online program where you can access portals to all of your classes, but you're still going to need an area where you keep anything that can be hand-held (ex: I keep a couple of labeled folders in a bag that I carry to classes and the library with me).

Tip 4: Buy some sticky notes and place them as reminders!

Have an exam at the end of the week that you're stressing for? Use some sticky notes as a means of studying, but instead of throwing them out when you're finished with them, stick them on random places around your room such as a mirror so you'll be able to review the days following your exam!

Tip 5: Make sure you're actually taking steps to stay organized!

It's easy to GET organized, but it can be difficult to stay that way over time!! Make sure you're following little tips and taking some time to do what you need to do to keep yourself nice and organized.. It really helps your success a lot by knowing where everything is and being able to easily keep track of your stuff.

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2024, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."

I was sitting at my cubicle, now that I am an adult, looking at the rain pouring down on the windowsill, bumming on life, wishing for the rain to just stop for a full day.

There are moments where we count down the hours until work is over and how many more days till the weekend, and this many weeks until something exciting. Or something like that? Well, I was bumming because my next day off from work is not until Memorial Day weekend, which is not until the end of May. And since this is my first year out of college being a “real person,” I am totally missing the winter, spring and summer breaks. I am sure all of us have felt this way even if just for a hot minute…

If you go to or went to Kent State, then more than likely you have done or will do some of these things.

1. You’ve slipped and fallen on the ice at least once.

The winters at Kent are brutal, and while the heated sidewalks and some great snow boots are always a help, there’s no chance you won’t bust it on the ice at least once in your four plus years at school.
