What To Do, From Your College Guru: Dead Week

Stressful nights of studying, sleep deprivation, anxious mornings-all a cultivation of what we all know as Dead week. This week is recognized as the one of the most deadly weeks of the semester in which most students study until they can't anymore.

However, await no more. There are things that you can do to get you through the week and I am going to provide you with a list of to-do's to get you through this rough patch of time.

1. Take brain breaks while Studying

Your brain needs to be taken care of. Think of it as exercising. A person walks into a gym ready to combat the saturated fat that plagues them and end up pushing way too hard. Your brain is fragile and should be taken care of, take 20 minute breaks in between studying to keep your brain at balance.

2. Take snacks with You

Trust me. You are going to get hungry while studying for hours on end. Pack some healthy snacks to keep you energized throughout the night. Examples: black berries, nuts, granola bars, frozen grapes...etc.

3. Make A list of things you know you need to cover

Before going into a night of studying create of a list of things that you know need done that day. By creating a layout of things to do, it helps to have a list prior to a study session so that you do not have to sit and ponder what to do first.

4. Set a timer

If you are a person who loses track of time easily and spends an entire night on one subject, a helpful tool is using a timer. The timer on the I Phone is a secret hack to working on more than one class. After forming a list of things to do, limit your time consumption on each task to get more things accomplished.

5. Be at peace with your hard work

Grades do not define you. Put in the work and hope for the best outcome. That's all you can do.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
