Alright folks, last night we all witnessed one of the most dramatic finales of The Bachelorette ever. Well, actually not really it wasn't THAT suspenseful - I've seen better, but you get the point. Chris Harrison always promises drama and we did get it this episode, so thanks, Chris. In past seasons, I always have someone I love in the finale, but not this year. I personally felt that both Jordan and Robby had a bit too much baggage for my liking. There were also moments where I felt they were both being a little too smooth and not as genuine as I personally felt they should have been. But what do I know? I'm not the Bachelorette. My judgments are purely based off of what I see on TV. I was team Luke all the way until he got tragically sent home last week, but whatever. So since my emotions were officially uninvolved in this finale, it made it easier to review equally.
The episode begins with Robby and Jordan having to meet JoJo's family. Personally speaking, I always thought her family was a little crazy (well, except for the dad - he seems cool) so I knew this would make for awesome television. Jordan was up first and was his smooth and entertaining self. The mom finds him charming but a bit of a player. He seemed to do fine until he left the conversation with JoJo's dad without asking for his daughter's hand in marriage. Really Jordan? REALLY? You had one job bro. JoJo has no idea, so I knew that would make for a pleasant conversation later. Side note - JoJo's mom is just as crazy now as she was on Ben's season. However, she does make some good points about Jordan.
Robby is up next, and truthfully I have never been a big fan of his. I've always thought that he was the literal equivalent of a Ken doll - not in a good way. But I've got to hand it to him, the guy did a great job. He knew exactly what to say, he brought flowers for JoJo's mom, and he couldn't stop talking about how much he loved JoJo. He even made Poppa Fletcher get emotional when asking for JoJo's hand in marriage. I honestly don't think Robby could have done any better. The family inevitably falls in love with Robby, and he is their clear choice for JoJo. At this point, I'm leaving towards Robby for the win.
JoJo then has one last one-on-one date with both of them. Robby was up first and to be honest, his was kind of a snooze fest. But also like he keeps calling her Joelle or "Jo" and it's getting really old. He continues to tell her how much he loves her, which is great. I support that. But when you've been saying all of that since your very first date, it can get repetitive. (Yeah, don't forget y'all. He said I love you on their FIRST one-on-one date.) So his date was fine. Not bad, not great, just fine.
Jordan's date also wasn't too exciting, except for the conversation about how his parent's visit went. I don't blame JoJo for being upset with Jordan for not asking her father's permission to marry her. I would be the same way. At this point, I feel conflicted about him. It's like part of me feels bad for Jordan because this whole season people have been talking major crap about him. On the other hand, you knew better. You knew you had to ask. He then promises he loves JoJo and wants to marry her and etc. etc.
The next day (I think? You never know in Bachelor time how many days have passed) they pick out the engagement rings. I gotta be honest, I thought Robby would pick the better ring because he is super fashion forward, but ultimately I think Jordan's was better. It was gorgeous, so 10 points to Jordan.
JoJo is now feeling super conflicted because she loves both guys. Which I find SUPER funny since Ben felt the same way and she never let it go. But whatever. She then learns that Jordan called her parents and got permission to marry her. In that moment I knew she was sold. I think she's been team Jordan from the beginning but drama kept getting in the way.
The proposals come and JoJo looks stunning. Seriously love that dress. Robby is the first to step out of the limo and I feel so bad for him. Honestly, he kind of won me over this episode so I hate to see his heart get broken. He gives a good speech but unfortunately, it was over from the beginning. Sorry Robby, I hope you find love somewhere pal.
Then Jordan comes and you can literally see JoJo light up. Even though I haven't been crazy about him, he does look great in a suit and he did come in the clutch with calling her parents for permission. Maybe if he made a play that great in the NFL he could have got some playing time. Not to mention, they do look great together. Jordan gives a great speech and gets down on one knee. JoJo happily accepts and the couple lives happily ever after.
So while I didn't really like either of them at the beginning of the episode, they each had their good moments in those two hours. I hope JoJo and Jordan are happy and I wish them the best. Now, I just need Luke to become The Bachelor then everything will work out perfectly.
