College Girl

Wash your clothes on Sunday so you are ready for the week; wash new clothes before you wear them; when buying new clothes, be sure it is modest; do not buy crop tops or ripped up jeans; try not to look like the slut you are so bent on becoming; always eat your greens and protein; don't become that annoying girl counting calories and only buying organic; this is how to be healthy; this is how to post on social media making you look healthy; don't post too much on social media; post updates for your family; don't post for attention and make yourself look like the slut I know you are so bent on becoming; this is a list of colleges that will make you look good on social media; this is a list of schools that will make you happy; this empty list is both; don't pick a college based off of school rankings; don't pick that school, that school is not prestigious enough; don't go out on weekends and become that slut I know you are so bent on becoming; don't stay in all the time and become a prude; this is how to drink coffee in a coffee shop; this is how to look hipster; this is how to look professional; make sure to drink your water; don't get up and in class to use the restroom; make sure to get enough sleep so you don't have those ugly bags under your eyes; volunteer, work, and get good grades; don't go to bed until your homework is done; school is your priority; do not take a loan out for college; go to whatever school feels right no matter the price; have fun on your weekends and make memories; work during every spare moment of your time; this is how to date; this is how to look like a lady; do not chase after boys; have women in your life that will help you recgonize the slut I warned you from becoming; it's okay to change schools if it doesn't feel right; don't switch schools too soon; try harder to make friends; go to every social gathering; spend time with yourself; love yourself before loving others; Are you really that self concerned and obsessed?; get up and work out; wear this to the gym so you don't look like a slut that you are so bent on becoming; this is how to get good grades; this is how to build a good resume; this is how to make friends; this is how to wake up after a night full of prayers that you wouldn't; this is how to make the best out of your current situation; but what if I'm at the wrong college?; you mean to say after all that you are really going to be the kind of women who transfers?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
