Being a college freshman myself, I have had many different thoughts my first week of classes.

Although there are already times where I wonder if I could make it in society as a hermit, I realize that I actually do already love college.

Here are 10 things that have already gone through my head:

1. What if I get lost?

Chances are, you got a map on move-in day and if you didn’t, look online! When you find out where your classes are, take a couple dry runs to really familiarize yourself with the campus.

2. Why did I sign up for a class this early?

If you had no choice but to take that time slot or if you actually like getting up early, you will, at some point, regret that decision.

3. Maybe I should drop out even though it’s my second day.

You got this. Grab a coffee and get ready for some late nights – you can do this!

4. What if I don’t know anyone in my classes?

You’re a freshman! You’re probably not going to know anyone. Take this chance to put yourself out there and make some friends.

5. Wait, is my laptop charged?

That moment of sheer panic when you open your laptop or tablet and the screen goes black – before you leave your dorm, ALWAYS make sure to have an extra charger with you.

6. Why didn’t I bring food?

Like an extra charger, never leave your dorm without packing an extra snack.

7. I can’t wait to make the library my second home.

If your school has an on-campus library, take advantage of it! It will become your new favorite place during finals week.

8. I can’t wait to take a nap.

If you have the opportunity to take a nap, USE IT.

9. Do I really need a college degree?

You’re paying all that money to go to a university, don’t waste it! A degree is worth the hassle in the long run.

10. I love college.

There will be days when you absolutely hate college and days where you can’t picture yourself anywhere else. Enjoy your four years and remember that you get out what you put in.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
