Summer: the warmest season of the year, filled with tan skin, beach days, and the best memories. However, for many incoming college freshmen, it is filled with a hard decision on whether or not to try long distance with their high school significant others.
I say, you should always give it a try because you never know what may happen.
Hey, I am not saying that long distance will always work because sometimes it does not. But how will you ever know if you don't try? I think that if you want a relationship to work, then you will make it work. It just takes two people, who want to put in the adequate effort to make the relationship work.
Long distance relationships in college are hard, especially in today's "hookup culture." But you just need to have trust and communication in the relationship. Facetime and visits make long distance easier in college. Also, being able to visit your partner is a positive thing, as you get to experience two different college campuses.
But if you decide not to stay together because of distance, then that is okay too.
Distance certainly is not for everyone, and if you know it is not for you, that is your choice. Do not feel ashamed or upset when you see other college students in long distance relationships because your choice is just as valid. Only you know what your relationship can handle.
So, to the college freshman debating long distance, I think you should try it (but I may be biased because I am I have a long distance relationship). However, if you do not then that is perfectly fine too.
