College Football: A Second Religion In The South

If you live in the south, you know that come the month of October, every Saturday until the first week of January is set on college football. We all gather around in our living rooms or " man caves" and are stuck to our seats and eyes glued to our TVs for the next 4 hours. It does not matter if it turns out to be a complete goose egg game, rivalry or the big championships, we love it all!

The SEC is apart of our families here below the Mason Dixon. However, being in Alabama, you know the biggest rivalry is between the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Auburn Tigers. You either exit the womb yelling "Roll Tide Roll" or "War Eagle". To us this is a second religion. We look forward to it all year, and as soon as the season ends we begin to prepare for the next one. We wear crimson and white or orange and blue year round, it always comes up in conversation, and the trash talk from the rivals comes easily.

Many people don't understand why it is so serious to us, after all it's just a game right? Wrong. It's second nature to us, it's like a part of our families and we love it. Winning games is always important but, its losing them that shows the real compassion of a team and their fans. Of course we get upset when we lose, who wouldn't? However, the humbling experience gets us fired up for the following season. We have our favorite teams and players but, down here in the south despite all the trash talk, scores, and rivals, college football brings us all together as one big family. The SEC is a dynasty to us, everyone outside of the south knows about it and will most likely eventually play against our best team. Many of you might think we are crazy and spend way to much time focused on just a sort, a team, a game, but it is more than that to us; it's a second religion, a lively-hood, and another part of our family. And we would not want it any other way.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
