The final week of college football was upon us, with everyone itching in anticipation for the epic rematch of Clemson versus Alabama on January ninth. Besides that, the bowl season is behind us. With ACC teams taking down the SEC (some of their seasons ending as badly as Arkansas) and Big 12 teams trying to make a statement to Big 10 teams, it was a season for the books.
First, we’ll discuss LSU's dominating win against Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson and the Louisville Cardinals. LSU won 29-9 after playing as one heartbeat-one team. LSUs defense shut down the Cardinals AND the Heisman Trophy winner with one interception, one safety, one fumble, and eight sacks. LSU also kept him to low 153 passing yards and his season low of 33 rushing yards. The Tigers also kept them to only field goals meaning for their first time all season the Cardinals never scored a touchdown. In addition to that, the Tigers defense came hungry and maintained them to only 11 first downs and only let them complete 2 out of 17 3rd down conversions. It was a great day for the Tiger family, but a devastating loss for the Heisman Trophy winner and the 9-4 Cardinals.
Next, we have Arkansas vs Virginia Tech. If you watched the first half chances are you turned off your T.V. because you thought it was going to be a complete blow-out. Unfortunately for the Razorbacks it was quite the opposite. They went the entire second half without scoring and losing 35-24 ending their season 7-6.
Finally, we have Clemson vs Ohio State. Many thought this would be a close game or one that went into overtime, but they could not be more wrong. All I can say is that Clemson wanted the rematch against Alabama for the National Championship and they did everything in their power to it. They did not only demolish the Buckeyes but they rolled right over them with a 31-0 win. Clemson secured their spot in the National Championship and will compete against Alabama on January 9th for the second year in a row. Who will win? Will Alabama prove they’re the best college football team once again or will Clemson finally bring down the SEC? Tune in on January ninth to find out and read about it January 16th!
