13 Feelings Only College Students Will Understand

No one really understands a college student like a college student.

College is a unique time in our lives where we have an entirely separate set of emotions and experiences. No one really understands a college student like a college student. Here are some common feelings and struggles you've probably gone through if you're in college.

1. Wishing for summer, but realizing that means also mean final season

We all fantasize about the end of the school year, but we forget that willing for summer to come faster includes the end of semester finals too.

2. Forgetting to eat

Between classes, work, homework and social life, it's no surprise when you realize you haven't eaten in 27 hours. One simply does not have time for natural bodily functions.

3. Not having enough money for food

Not only are you forgetting to eat, but you're too broke to afford groceries. You've mastered the art of rationing your food and you've probably gotten way too used to eating Ramen.

4. Perfecting the exact time it takes you to make it to class on time, but continuing to leave a few minutes past that time

Who wants to be in class any longer than they absolutely have to anyway?

5. Crossing the street whenever because you don’t really care if you get hit anymore

Chances are you've walked out into traffic and said, "Hit me, I don't care. Pay my tuition" before. If you haven't, you should. It's exhilarating.

6. Walking to your exam and fantasizing about getting hit so you don’t have to go

Yeah, exams are that bad.

7. Saying you give up and don’t care, but continuing to work hard anyway

Hey, pain is temporary. GPA is forever. *cries*

8. Procrastinating, saying you’ll never do it again and then doing it again

It's a never-ending cycle. We acknowledge our problem, but we don't do anything to change it. What's new?

9. Doing every random survey on the class page to avoid your homework while feeling productive

Maybe this is just me, but if I see any kind of survey while I'm on Facebook when I should be doing work, I'm going to do it (a prime example of point 8). I feel accomplished and helpful when really I've just dug myself a deeper hole.

10. You call your hometown home when you’re at school, but when you’re home you call your apartment home

You have two places that you feel at home at and referring to both as home can be utterly confusing when trying to communicate plans.

11. When people sit in your unassigned seat

This usually happens when the professor notices the end of semester lull and decides to start counting attendance during lecture. The people who haven’t attended all semester suddenly show up and, God forbid, they sit in your seat. It may not have been assigned to you, but that is YOUR seat. The nerve.

12. Adding everyday tasks to your to-do list to make yourself feel more accomplished

Congratulations, you brushed your teeth today! You did your laundry? Gold star!

13. Feeling guilty for sleeping

As a student, you've mastered the art of a 30-minute nap because you definitely don't get enough sleep at night. If you're anything like me, you feel genuinely guilty for sleeping when you know you have work to do. But sometimes you just have to get some zzzz's.

The 5 Painfully True Stages Of Camping Out At The Library

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

28 Daily Thoughts of College Students

"I want to thank Google, Wikipedia, and whoever else invented copy and paste. Thank you."

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

As this semester wraps up, students can’t help but be stressed about finals. After all, our GPAs depends on these grades! What student isn’t worrying about their finals right now? It’s “goodbye social life, hello library” time from now until the end of finals week.

1. Finals are weeks away, I’m sure I’ll be ready for them when they come.
