10 Times Lizzie McGuire Perfectly Explained The College Struggle

Lizzie McGuire was just a girl next door that went through the painful middle school years that we are all familiar with. From bullies and friendship drama to just the struggles of growing up, Lizzie went through it all and helped teach us valuable lessons. Even though the Lizzie's drama was based throughout her experience in middle school, her problems still relate to life in college.

1. When you've spent hours studying for a test.

College is the constant cycle of procrastinating for tests, freaking out and cramming for tests, and then finally taking those tests just to repeat the cycle once more. As much as we would all like to be ahead of our deadlines, at some point in our college life we end up in the library for an entire night. I stayed in the library an entire night just to end up like Lizzie, hurt, tired, hungry and even worse in the wrong building for my 8 AM.

2. Realizing your college wardrobe consists only of t-shirts.

Like most college students, I have somehow accumulated hundreds of t-shirts. Free t-shirts are such a beautiful college luxury until you actually have plans to go out and realize your entire closet has been taken by over them. Then you're stuck with the cliche nice college outfit that is just a t-shirt with a cardigan.

3. When you have a group project.

College is the time that most people realize that, unlike high school, they aren't actually the smartest person in the world. This feeling is usually held true until teachers assign group projects. Group projects are probably the worst part of college because for the first time you are the smartest in the group, but in reality you still have no idea what is going on.

4. Being able to wear the same outfit two days in a row.

As gross as it sounds, college is great because you can get away with wearing the same outfit you wore to your MWF class to your T/Th class. The only awkward thing is when you run into someone from your MWF class on T/Th wearing the same outfit and they notice.

5. When the weather starts getting warm.

That best and worst time of the semester when the weather starts getting warm. You always make those mental lists of everything you could be doing instead of going to class. Then those mental lists turn into calculating how many times you have left to skip a class because would you really pay attention in class when the weather is perfect??

6. That moment when the WiFi decides to stop working.

Besides group projects, Clemson's WiFi takes the cake for being the worst thing about college. I always have the worst luck when it comes to the WiFi. It always seems that as I am in the middle of a big assignment that's due, the WiFi will crash and not get fixed until days later.

7. Getting thousands of emails a day.

Every college student has a huge wake up call when it comes to the world of emails. In high school, we were all used to getting the usual emails from various stores about sales, but no one could ever be prepared for the amount of emails that you get in college. Now everyone dreads having to give out their college email address because you already get thousands of emails a day.

8. You realize that guys haven't changed a lot since high school.

There is a misconception that guys immediately mature and change between graduating high school and starting college. Guys in college are basically the same as guys in high school except that they don't have their parents there to guide them. So don't expect boys to be any different coming into college, they're still the same.

9. When it hits you that you graduate in two years.

All college students at some point come to the realization that they are going to graduate in just a few years. I have this realization at least five times a week. Going through college I have realized that everyone is in the same position that I am and no one really knows what they're doing. Even though we seem like we have it all together, everyone is nervous to start being an adult.

10. Ultimately, realizing that your parents are your best friends.

During my college experience, I have realized that my parents are truly my best friends. They always answer my phone calls as I'm walking to class and are always interested in the hearing about the boring parts of my day. Being away at college is such an overwhelming experience, but with my parents support it has been easier.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
