I've always been the type of person who likes to have set plans or be in the know. So in the months/years leading up to college, I had a very clear vision in my head of what I thought it was going to be. Spoiler alert: I was wrong.
1.) EXPECTATION: I'll have so much free time.
REALITY: Between class, studying, sports, clubs, and a social life, you'll most likely be busier than you were in high school.
2.) EXPECTATION:I'll have so much time to sleep and take naps.
REALITY: All nighters are definitely a thing and you don't have as much time as you think to take naps and recover.
3.) EXPECTATION: It'll be so easy to make friends in college.
REALITY: You don't undergo a magical change when starting college. If you were painfully shy and awkward, you're still going to be painfully shy and awkward. Cringe through it and try your best, though.
4.) EXPECTATION: College classes won't be that much harder than high school classes.
REALITY: So. Much. Work. It's doable, but good time management is key. You won't be able to breeze by doing the bare minimum anymore.
5.) EXPECTATION: I'm going to love it and have a great four years.
REALITY: Hopefully true! It's not always fun or easy, but that's just part of the ride!
