Everyone has a list of their own personal needs for their college dorm room, but I'm here to give you a some items that everyone will consider necessities. Whether you'll be living in a suite-style dorm or a normal dorm room, these few things will help you get by just a little bit easier.
1) Storage Bins
You will have a ton of things that need a home but very little space in your dorm room, so under-bed or regular storage bins are much needed.
2) A Mattress Pad
I can guarantee you that dorm room beds are the most uncomfortable beds you'll ever sleep on. Get yourself a nice comfortable mattress pad so that your body can sleep just as well as your head.
3) A Shower Caddy
Whether you're in a suite and sharing a shower with three other people, or you're in a normal dorm and using a community shower, a shower caddy is a must. You can keep your shower items separate from everyone else's, and it makes carrying everything to and from the shower easier.
4) An Extension Cord
There are a lot of things that are going to need to be plugged in in your dorm room but very few plugs. Extension chords will give you an opportunity to get everything done at the same time. Make sure they're separate outlets, though, because plugging everything in to one outlet could be too much electricity for that outlet to handle.
5) A Comfortable Blanket
A nice warm comfy blanket is definitely essential. For sleepovers, Netflix addictions, or just for when you're cold, warm blankets are always the way to go.
6) Towels
It is a good idea to have two to three towels so that you don't have to wash them too often. You should get wash cloths, hand towels, and bath towels so that you'll be set for any kind of mess.
7) Tupperware
Your leftovers need a place to stay, and tupperware is a better home than plastic bags. Also, tupperware is a great way to sneak food out of the dining hall (you didn't hear that from me).
There are plenty of other things you're going to need for your dorm room, but those are just majors necessities. You can thank me later!
