Have you moved into your college dorm room and realized how bland and boring it is? Don't worry, we've all been there at some point, including me.
While there is an abundance of things you can use to decorate your dorm room, adding a lava lamp will do just the trick.
You must be thinking, "Why lava lamps?" Well, here's the thing. I packed up what seems like most of my life the last few days of summer and had a list of everything I needed to bring. I brought an endless amount of clothes that I will probably never wear, and even brought things that caused me to get weird looks from other people on my floor. Oops. Guess what I didn't bring? I forgot to bring my favorite blue, green and red lava lamp from home. If you don't know how awesome lava lamps are, I'm here to help.
Lava lamps come in handy in so many ways. At the beginning of the school year, when dorms are still ungodly hot and you're trying to figure out how to cool down your dorm, trade in the fluorescent overhead lights for a lava lamp. It makes the room look awesome but it can also double as a nightlight if you're out late and your roommate went to bed. It isn't too bright and it doesn't bother most people, especially if it's on your side of the room.
Lava lamps come in so many different shapes and sizes, so if you're a lava lamp fanatic like me, an oversized lava lamp is the way to go. If you're still unsure about the greatness behind them, then you can get a miniature sized one just to see how much it makes your dorm room feel a little warmer!
At the end of the day, whether you are more of a rug person, a poster person or a lava lamp person, be sure to go out of your way to get what you need to make your dorm room feel like home, because for the next few months, it is home.
