A College Student's Christmas List

During college your Christmas list seems to get simpler, but the need for the things on it becomes more real.

A College Student's Christmas List

As you get older your Christmas List seems to change. I think the most special Christmas List is made during your college years, though. The list during these years is so simple, desperate, cherished, and important all at the same time. So, here are some things you may find on every college kid's Christmas List.

1. To Pass All Classes

College can be hard, and finals flipping suck. So passing classes is definitely a much needed Christmas wish.

2. Money

Let's be honest, all college students are basically broke. So, money is always welcomed and much appreciated. Also, I already know what you're thinking, "why don't you just get money and buy everything else on the list?" Because no. Just no. It's not the same. There's something about having money in your wallet that you can spend on whatever you want and not things that you probably should/need to buy.

3. Taco Bell Gift Card

THIS. IS. GOLD. I repeat, GOLD. Taco Bell is like a cherished gift in college. Everyone basically loves it, and when you have gift cards you feel like you aren't even spending money. Also, if you happen to mention to your friends you have a $20 gift card to Taco Bell the possibilities are endless on what you can get them to do. You could easily have a clean room if you get them a couple of tacos.

4. Toilet Paper

I know this doesn't seem like a lot, but this stuff isn't cheap, especially if you don't hang with the cheap stuff. Stocking up a college student with toilet paper that will last them a couple of months would definitely make Christmas a merry one.

5. A Full Tank Of Gas

Go ahead and fill up your college kids gas tank because there is nothing more beautiful than looking ahead of you and seeing that dial all the way to the right. An instant smile happens when a college student sees their gas tank is full.

6. A Break From All The Questions

No, we probably don't know what we're going to do with the rest of our life. If we're single now, we'll probably be single for awhile. If we're dating, we probably won't get married any time soon because rings cost money and look at number two on our list.

7. A Whole Day To Sleep

Yes, this may be "wasting the day away" but we don't care. We just finished finals, which means staying up until the wee hours of the morning cramming for a test that we won't remember as soon as we finish. We're tired and sleeping all day sounds amazing. So let us do it, we'll probably be happier after we catch up on sleep anyways.

8. A Home Cooked Meal

No one enjoys college caf food, and nothing is as good as real food made in your home by your mom.

Here's hoping that all college students receive their struggle Christmas wishes because receiving any of things would be a blessing.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
